The Primary Years Program of study focuses on the heart and mind, and addresses social, physical, emotional, and cultural needs, as well as academic ones.

The International Studies Program offers an inquiry based curriculum that allows students to become responsible world citizens and lifelong learners. It provides our students with an international perspective that relates their lives in Clarksdale, MS to the United States and communities all over the world.

In keeping with the international theme, students will be required to learn a second language, in our case, Spanish. All students, kindergarten through fifth grade, will receive Spanish instruction as part of the curriculum.

The primary curriculum sets high standards and has high expectations for the students. Teachers and administrators will work together to incorporate the Mississippi Frameworks, working within the guidelines of the PYP, to plan units of instruction that will make up the Booker T. Washington Program of Inquiry. Traditional subjects are taught, while emphasizing the interrelatedness of knowledge and skills.
